El GRILLO, AN ANCIENT SOUL IN A NEW CLOTH.
In the upper part of the old town of Santa Cruz de La Palma, you will find this fairytale house called El Grillo. A Canarian house from 1830 in one of the most picturesque areas of the city. It has been completely renovated, but always respecting its "old soul". A warm, cosy place that has been reborn after many hours of care and attention to detail.
El Grillo is a Canarian house from 1830. When we discovered it, it was uninhabited and not in very good condition, but we thought it had a lot of charm, and in mid-2017 we decided to buy it, and give it the importance it deserved.
After months in which we have squandered ideas, illusions, plans, sketches and a lot of work, El Grillo has fulfilled its expectations and now looks just as we imagined it the first time.

"El Grillo" owes its name to the fact that this was the nickname by which its former owner, now deceased, was known, and we thought it was a nice way of thanking him for this beautiful place.
Casa El Grillo has been completely refurbished. Internal divisions have been removed, the floor has been changed, the electrical installation has been renewed, a completely new kitchen and bathroom have been installed, we have created a loft to locate the bedroom... But even so, there are some elements of the original building that we wanted to respect, such as the beautiful wooden attic roof. In addition, we have rescued a stone wall that was hidden.
We wanted to give it a more modern, fresh and functional air, but respecting its "old soul", without changing too much its character of a Canarian house, simple and cosy...
An open, multifunctional space for daytime living on the ground floor, and a mezzanine with skylight windows for a glimpse of the sky at night.
Given our passion for recycling and recovering objects forgotten by others, the house is full of what we call our little treasures: an old wine press wheel, a family heirloom tea wood boot, a flea market mirror, furniture of our own creation, salvaged furniture, transformed furniture... that coexist in harmony with the new and modern equipment.
A mixture of metal, wood, stone and natural materials that blend together to create a unique space, which could be considered a real luxury suite in the middle of the capital city of Palma. But a suite with soul, with an old soul.
Our goal is already achieved, we are absolutely in love with this house. Now all that remains is for you to visit us and fall in love with it too.
